Roots & Shoots goes on a Detroit Garden Tour!

August 9th 2006- Growing Hope’s Youth Entrepreneurship Program participated in this year’s Community Garden Tour hosted by the Detroit Agricultural Network. The tour started at the acclaimed Catherine Ferguson, a high school for pregnant and parenting teens, with an active farm, orchard and many many animals. The tour this year was divided in two different tours, with one group focusing on food security and the other focusing on youth and education. We went on the later group and visited various community gardens and school gardens, where youth work and learn in the garden. The kids had a great time seeing the gardens, and impressed everyone with their vegetable and herb identifications.
