Food and People! Farmers Market Shifts:
1. Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers Market
Dates and Times: Tuesdays, Setup 1-2:30pm, Tear-down 6-7:30pm
Location: Downtown Market: Ferris Street, between Adams and Hamilton
Description: Volunteers at the market will help set up all the key pieces of running an exciting and successful market, including tents and tables, and other components of the well-oiled market machine. No experience necessary, volunteers should be comfortable with some moderate physical activity. A fun easy way to start or end your market shopping visit, add an hour of support before or after you shop! Many hands make a great market! Come be part of one of Ypsi's greatest features!

2. Wayne Farmers Market
Dates and Times: Wednesdays through October, Setup 2-3:30, Tear-down 7-8pm
Location: 3355 S. Wayne Road, Wayne, MI 
Description:  Volunteers at the market will help set up all the key pieces of running an exciting and successful market, including tents and tables, and other components of the well-oiled market machine. No experience necessary, volunteers should be comfortable with some moderate physical activity. Growing Hope is honored to be contracted to manage the Wayne market and extend our expertise to another great community, great opportunity for evenings, or for those closer to the Wayne area!

3. Depot Town Farmers Market
Dates and Times: Saturdays, Setup 8-9am, Tear-down 1-2pm
Location: Depot Town Market, 100 Rice Street
Description: Volunteers at the market will help set up all the key pieces of running an exciting and successful market, including tents and tables, and other components of the well-oiled market machine. No experience necessary, volunteers should be comfortable with some moderate physical activity. A fun easy way to start or end your WEEKEND market shopping visit, add an hour of support before or after you shop! Many hands make a great market! Come be part of one of Ypsi's greatest features!
 
Get Dirty! Farm Volunteer Shifts:
1. Produce Harvest
Dates and Times: Tuesdays and Fridays, 9:30am-12:30pm
Location: Growing Hope Center/Farm
Description: Come prepared to work outdoors! Wear close-toed shoes and clothes that can get dirt. You can expect to assist our Farm Manager, Jared, with harvesting produce for farmers markets and wholesale distribution. Exciting to see the fresh, healthy food coming right off our urban farm!
 
2. Downtown Farmers Market Assistant
Dates and Times: Tuesdays, starting 8/19, 1:30-6:30pm
Location: Growing Hope Center/Farm, Downtown Ypsi Farmers Market
Description: Help Jared, our Farm Manager, pack up produce and supplies to transport to market, help staff the market booth, and interact with farmers market shoppers. No experience necessary, we'll cover appropriate training.   A fun afternoon of interacting with Ypsi's finest, and an awesome chance to see increased food access in action -- what's better than putting fresh local produce in the hands of some hungry shoppers?!

3. Depot Town Farmers Market Assistant
Dates and Times: Saturdays, starting 8/23, 8am-1:30pm
Location: Growing Hope Center/Farm
Description: Help Jared, our Farm Manager, pack up produce and supplies to transport to market, help staff the market booth, and interact with farmers market shoppers. No experience necessary, we'll cover appropriate training. For the early-bird, or those who are looking for a weekend opportunity, another awesome chance to share the bounty, and put fresh local produce in the hands of our community!

4. Hands on the Farm
Dates and Times: Flexible, M, W, Th, or F, 9am-5pm. Time commitment is flexible, and dependent on the job. 
Location: Growing Hope Center
Description: Come prepared to work outdoors! This volunteer can expect to assist with planting, weeding, harvesting,watering, organizing tools and seeds, and general farm maintenance. No experience necessary, we'll cover appropriate training. We'd be lost without some extra hands around the farm to help us keep things running smoothly, and keep the farm growing safely and abundantly!
 
5. Weekend Hoop Caretaker
Dates and Times: Saturdays, 6-7pm (other shifts may come available soon, Saturday mornings, Sunday mornings and evenings)
Location: Growing Hope Center/Farm
Description: This volunteer will help by covering weekend watering shifts so that Growing Hope staff can try to keep working hours under control. Volunteer will work independently after a training meetup with Jared, our Farm Manager, and follow a checklist of items including watering plants in the hoop house, plant starts on the farm, and container gardens near the front entrance. No experience necessary, we'll cover appropriate training. Fun and peaceful weekend opportunities, help us "take care of the kids" while we get some much needed weekend rest!
 
 
Events and Development
1. Ypsilanti Heritage Festival - Saturday August 16, Sunday August 17
Location: Ypsilanti Depot Town area
Join Growing Hope staff and the greater Ypsilanti sustainability community as we march in the parade Saturday morning, and Sunday as we staff a large tent with Growing Hope information, merchandise and veggie seedlings, kids activities and food samples. Help needed all day Sunday, let us know when you're able to help out and we'll get you scheduled!

2. Chefs in the Garden - Sunday, August 24 
Location: Growing Hope Center/Farm
Join us as talented, local chefs dish up seasonal fare during these delicious dinner parties at the Growing Hope Center's urban farm in the heart of Ypsilanti! Volunteers get to join in the fun without needing to buy a ticket! We're looking for help with getting the farm set up before the event, tables and chairs for folks to eat at, signs, etc., helping folks find nearby parking, and then help with the fun stuff like dishes and cleanup! Volunteers needed all day Sunday, let us know when you're able to help out and we'll get you scheduled!

3. Fall Plant Sale - Friday/Saturday/Sunday, Sept. 5/6/7
Location: YpsiPlanti retail store, 9 S. Adams, Ypsilanti
We're finalizing plants and growing the perfect sprouts to get in the ground in early September for a fall crop. Join us as we host a three day sale, helping stock and inventory plants from the farm, help folks learn and pick out which plant starts they'd like to purchase, and keep our store and plants looking ship-shape and inviting to customers! Shifts available all weekend, let us know when you'd like to help and we'll get you scheduled!
