Thanks for your interest in volunteering with Growing Hope! Whether you are looking to get dirty and dig around the Growing Hope Center or stay clean by helping out in our offices or at the Ypsilanti Farmers Market, we have volunteer opportunities for you or your group!

Special Events:
1. April Learn & Serve: Planting for Bees
Dates and Times: April 25th, from 1-4pm 
Location: The Growing Hope Center
Description: Join us for our monthly Learn & Serve event, where GH pairs an educational workshop with service work. This month's theme is extra exciting! Growing Hope is partnering with Ypsi Melissa to present a special workshop on gardening for pollinators. Please email Kat Krupsky, Volunteer Coordinator for more information or register through the link below. Get Dirty on the Farm: 
1. Hands on in the Farm
Dates and Times: Mon. from 3-5pm and Tues. & Fri., 10am-12pm
Location: Growing Hope Center 
Description: This is a year-round opportunity. Come prepared to work outdoors! This volunteer can expect to assist with planting, weeding, harvesting, watering, organizing tools and seeds, and general farm maintenance. However, during the cooler months, farm work typically includes more organizational and clean-up work. No experience necessary, we'll cover appropriate training. 
We'd be lost without some extra hands around the farm to help us keep things running smoothly, and keep the farm growing safely and abundantly!
2. Transplant Potters
Dates and Times: Wednesdays, between 3-6pm
Location: The Growing Hope Center
Description: Want to help our baby seedlings keep growing? We’re looking for multiple volunteers to help us pot up our seedlings for our spring plant sale. Come prepared to get your hands dirty!
3. Saturday Hoop House Caretaker
Dates: Saturdays before noon OR after 5pm
Location: The Growing Hope Center
Description: We need trustworthy, dedicated volunteer(s) who can make a regular Saturday commitment. These volunteer will be asked to come to the GH Center and water our hoop house while the staff is away. Typically this job takes about 1 hour and all training can be provided prior to starting your Saturday shift.
4. Spring Garden Bed Prep Volunteers
Dates: Weekdays between 9-5pm
Location: The Growing Hope Center
Description: Great for individual or group volunteers—GH needs help cleaning up the garden beds in the front of the GH Center. Pull weeds, clean-up trash and other debris, and generally beautify these garden beds. Please coordinate ahead to schedule a volunteer appointment, especially for volunteer groups. 
Lend a (handy) Hand:
1. Market Team Handyman/Handywoman
Dates and Times: Flexible
Location: 9 S. Adams St. Ypsilanti, MI
Description: Help support Ypsi farmers markets through a variety of off-season handy jobs. These jobs include but are not limited to fixing large tent frames (assess what can and cannot be fixed), fixing market tables (mostly in need of screw adjustments), bolting safety straps into the market trailer, and possibly installing shelving at our Adams St. office.
2. Gas Line Install for Dryer
Dates and Times: Flexible
Location: Growing Hope Center
Description: Are you certified to install gas lines for home appliances and interested in helping out in your community? Help Growing Hope install a gas line in the basement of the GH Center so staff can have a functioning washer and dryer for special events.
3. Volunteer Locksmith
Dates and Times: Flexible
Location: Growing Hope Center
Description: Are you a handy-worker? Do you have experience as a Locksmith? GH needs a volunteer to help update locks at the GH Center. All necessary materials will be provided. 
4. Kitchen Backsplash Tiling Volunteer(s)
Dates and Times: Flexible
Location: Growing Hope Center
Description: Do you have experience with tiling in your own home? Do you have the attention to detail that is needed for a medium-scale tiling project? GH is looking for an experienced volunteer(s) to tile the backsplash in our kitchen to make it a more beautiful space and one step closer to being a certified commercial kitchen! We can work with your schedule and all supplied will be provided.
Social Enterprise:
1. Spring Plant Sale Volunteer(s)
Shifts: (1)Thursday, April 30th from 2:30-5pm (2) Thursday, April 30th from 5-7:30pm (3) Friday, May 1st from 12:30-4:30pm (4) Friday, May 1st from 4:30-8:30pm
Location: YpsiPlanti Garden Supply Shop (9 S. Adams St. Ypsilanti, MI 48197)
Description: Sign up for 1 of the 4 volunteer shifts at our spring plant sale! We’re looking for volunteers to help with set-up, labeling plants, customer service, and clean-up. If you’re great with sales and customer service, we want you!
Youth Programs:
1. Seed 2 Plate Volunteer(s)
Date: Weekdays
Location: Ypsilanti Schools
Description: Are you interested in working with youth? Do you enjoy teaching kids about nutrition and healthy cooking? Apply to be a Youth Program Volunteer! Submit your volunteer registration (if you haven’t already) and complete a background check with Kat Krupsky, Volunteer Coordinator, prior to serving with youth. Once materials are cleared, assist our Youth Program Coordinator with weekly Seed 2 Plate nutrition education classes at local Ypsilanti schools.
