The Color Run will take place in Depot Town this weekend, bringing 14,000 people and quite a bit of traffic through Ypsilanti. The Ypsilanti Depot Town Farmers Market will go on from 9am-1pm as scheduled, but for this Saturday, May 11 ONLY, it will be held at Ypsilanti High School, in the Shadford Field parking lot near Hewitt and Packard (click here for a map). Enjoy The Color Run if you're participating or volunteering (if you volunteer on behalf of Growing Hope, you'll earn us $40 - click here to sign up), and then come on out to shop the Depot Town Farmers Market! We can't wait to see you!

Guess what happened last Wednesday afternoon? We hit our goal of $20,000!!!!! We have been overwhelmed by the positive support we've seen from the community (both the Washtenaw County community and the 'Gardener/Healthy Food Community' across the country)! The campaign's still open til Monday, and we do welcome contributions above the goal, so if you haven't yet, head over to Kickstarter and pledge. THANK YOU for helping us get here.

Spring weather seems to be somewhat more reliably upon us, and we're increasingly excited for gardening season. If you're thinking about gardening for the first time - or graduating from small scale or trial-and-error growing - then be sure to join us for our Intro to Gardening workshop this Saturday, April 6 from 10-11:30 am OR 1-2:30 pm. The workshop will take place at The Giving Garden at Eastern Michigan University (or inside the EMU Student Center, in case of rain) and will be led by Growing Hope staffer and The Giving Garden President Germaine Smith together with Samantha Edwards, Garden Steward and Vice President at The Giving Garden.

It's not too late to register! For directions and to RSVP, please click here.

Mark your calendars and get your shopping lists ready for the start of the Depot Town Farmers Market (DTFM) on Saturday, May 4 and the Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers Market (DYFM) on Tuesday, May 7! Both markets will run from May through the end of October, downtown at Ferris St & Hamilton St from 2-6pm on Tuesdays and in Depot Town at 100 Rice St from 9am-1pm on Saturdays. As always, both markets will accept various forms of food assistance, including EBT/SNAP (Bridge Card), Double Up Food Bucks, and WIC Project FRESH/Senior Market FRESH.

For updated news about the Ypsilanti Farmers Markets and two additional markets we're managing this year (in Wayne and Westland), keep an eye on our site - a revamped farmers market page is in the works and will be up soon. Be sure to also "like" the NEW combined Ypsilanti Farmers Markets page on Facebook. We can't wait to see you at the markets in May!
