YpsiPlanti garden supply store will be popping up at 9 South Adams St. this May, but we still have some work to do do get everything ready to go.

In the next week, we need volunteers willing to paint, clean, build shelving, & lift some heavy things. If you have the time, you can help make YpsiPlanti a reality!

A schedule of times for volunteering can be found on our calendar. If you want to attend one of our volunteer days at YpsiPlanti, please contact our Social Enterprise VISTA, Leah McKnight at leah@growinghope.net.

Let's turn this:

Into the best garden supply store that downtown Ypsilanti has ever seen!

Thanks for Helping Us Grow!

This is the final day of our 15x15 Donation Matching Challenge! In their generosity, some of our Leadership Circle donors have given $15,000 which they have challenged the community to match by April 15th.  We've already raised over $7,500, but we still have a way to go!

Whether through a one time contribution, or a multi-month pledge, your support will provide Growing Hope with the resources to continue making a difference in Ypsilanti and beyond. Please donate today!

Already this year we:

  • Expanded our programming helping kids grow healthy food and healthy habits - in classrooms and after school in Ypsilanti Community Schools, at Parkridge Community Center, and newly at Paradise Manor public housing community.
  • Graduated eleven teams from across the region to start or expand community gardens this spring through our Garden Leadership Training.
  • Are working with over 40 households and schools to help us start veggie seedlings to give away or plant on our urban farm, while teaching them to start seedlings for themselves.
  • Filled the spots we have available this season partnering with 25 low-income families to build vegetable gardens at their homes this spring, to be completed with our veggie-oil fueled truck!!
  • Are already signing up vendors for our Ypsilanti Farmers Markets & Wayne Farmers Market!

...and in 2014 we're ready for some new endeavors, including:

  • Focusing on our financial sustainability in ways that further our mission (what we call social enterprises), including expanding our garden products & services at pop-up retail garden center - YpsiPlanti Garden Supply - open May & June only this year.  We're also expanding our consulting, training, and speaking services, sharing our best practices throughout the region.
  • Planning for a year-round farmers market facility, and other policy and environmental strategies for increasing healthy local food available year-round in Ypsilanti, thanks to a grant from the CDC.

Remember, the challenge runs until April 15, so please donate now!

P.S. Those who can make a leadership gift of at least $500 are invited to our place for a Hoophouse Happy Hour on Thursday, April 17 so we can show our gratitude and have some fun!

Growing Hope is so excited to be able to share our Farmers Markets' impact from 2013! It was a year of phenomenal growth and success for both our established Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers Market and our newly managed Depot Town Market. Now you can learn all about the great things that happened at our markets last year in our 2013 Season Report

It takes more than just Growing Hope's commitment and work to have two thriving farmers markets. Want to get involved?  There are fantastic opportunities for sponsorship available right now!

Read about:

  • The 77% of customers on our annual survey that reported being "more likely to tell people good things about Ypsilanti" because of the Ypsi Farmers Markets;
  • The 404% increase in sales (over 2012) at the Saturday Ypsilanti Depot Town Market in the first year of our taking it over;
  • The impact on customers of the 2349 healthy food samples we shared;
  • Our co-sponsored Building Blocks for Food Entrepreneurs workshops, attended by 121 budding or growing entrepreneurs;
  • Our new Friends of the Market membership, and all of our fabulous 2013 sponsors;
  • And much more!

Thanks to all our friends, volunteers and sponsors for a great 2013! Let's make 2014 our best year yet! See you at the markets!
