Growing Hope's Lending Library serves as community resource to gain access to garden related literature and gardening tools! Or click here to look at our online resource-connect page!
Growing Gardens members may borrow:
- Garden/Lawn Tools: We have a wide variety of tools that you can borrow from us to get your garden project started. Our bigger tools include shovels, forks, hoes, rakes, edgers, bulb planters, shears, and loppers. If your really looking to get down and dirty with hand tools, we also loan out Radius® trowels, transplanters, weeders, and cultivators. Scroll to the bottom of this page for a comprehensive list of tools available to you. Please note: Unfortunately at this time we do not have a rototiller on site for projects that require ground-breaking. If your project requires a large rototiller, please contact Delux Rental in Ypsilanti (click here for their contact info, garden/lawn tool rental options and prices). Growing Hope's rototiller is best for turning soil in small, already-established beds.
- Food Preserving Tools: We are working hard to expand our library of tools available to preserve your harvest. At the moment, we offer hot water bath canning kits (pot, jar lifter, rack, guide book). Check back soon as we hope to have a dehydrator and pressure canner available too! Scroll to the bottom of this page for a comprehensive list of tools available to you.
- Educational Resources: We also have a growing library collection that are available to help with specific aspects of gardening– including organizing your community or school to garden, square foot gardening, curriculum resources, food-related business planning, and urban farming. Click here to online browse most of the books we have available for you to borrow or contact us to set up a time to come in to browse in person. (Please note: Some resources are available for reference only and you may use our office photocopier when you visit.)
